Anita Gail Newman

Anita Gail (Ragon) Newman, age 57, of Water Valley, MS went to her forever home Monday, April 10, 2023 at Baptist Memorial in Oxford after an extended illness. She was born August 8, 1965, in Water Valley, MS to Sue Hill and the Late Martin Ragon. After graduating from Water Valley High School in 1983, Anita went directly into the workforce starting her career at Sams Town where she was the banquet hall manager overseeing the many aspects of feeding the patrons. She later went to work at Crown Cork & Seal in Batesville heading up the housekeeping activities. With this knowledge, she decided to take a leap of faith and started her own cleaning business that she would run until her health precluded her from working in 2018. Anita was an outgoing, generous and caring person who never met a stranger. Her gift of gab had her meeting new friends on almost a daily basis.

When not working, Anita found enjoyment in gardening, fishing, cutting grass, cooking out and almost anything to do with the outdoors. But her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Visitation is planned for Thursday, April 13, 2023, in the Gardiner Room of Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks.
Burial will be in Elam Cemetery in Coffeeville.

Anita is survived by husband Chad Newman; her mother, Sue Hill; two sons, Greg Langham, Tyler Payne; one daughter, Amber Brown (David); one brother, Mark Ragon; two sisters, Saundra Lancaster (Jeff), Dawn Ragon; two grandchildren, Mckenzie Brown, Maliegha Payne; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Anita was preceded in death by her father, Martin Ragon; and her “Daddy” James Boot Hill.
