Barbara Ann Griffin

Barbara Ann “Bobbie” Poe Griffin, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. Born on January 7, 1948, to Robert and Mary Poe, Bobbie was known for the warmth and kindness she showed to all who had the pleasure of meeting her. Her love for others was rooted in her love of Christ, and she served faithfully at Oakland Baptist Church.

Although she began her career at the telephone company and then Big Yank, Bobbie found great satisfaction in the world of education where she served for many years as an assistant in Kindergarten and Elementary classes. She made a lasting impact as she dedicated herself wholeheartedly as a guiding light to her students. Bobbie instilled in so many of her students a lifelong love of learning and encouraged her students to pursue their dreams. All these years later, her students would still see her and call her “Mrs. Griffin.” She would finish her career working in medical billing.

Bobbie was very talented as one can see through her crafts and crocheting. She was also quite the artist. She created and painted the original Water Valley Blue Devils logo that hung for years in the high school gymnasium. Her family remembers fondly her culinary expertise—especially her homemade biscuits and gravy. Bobbie loved to feed and watch the hummingbirds each year.

Bobbie loved her family dearly. Known affectionately by her grandkids as “Mamaw,” “Granny Griffin,” and “Memaw,” she treated each one as if they were the only one. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Ron (Destiny) Griffin, Jr. and Robbie (Marie) Griffin; her daughter, Shana (Chris) Bauer; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren (and one on the way!)

Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary Poe; her husband, Ronald “Ronnie” Griffin, Sr.; a son, Chad Griffin; a grandson, Cody Haire; and a sister, Patsy Poe Elliott.

A Funeral Service will be held to honor Bobbie's life on March 30, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home, Water Valley, MS. Prior to the service, the family will welcome friends and loved ones for visitation in the Gardiner Room from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Following the service, Bobbie will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley.

Barbara Ann Griffin will be remembered for her nurturing spirit and the profound impact she had on her community. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her in return. May she rest in peace, now reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.

Seven Oaks Funeral Home is honored to serve Bobbie’s family and requests that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate these difficult times.
