Dale Eugene Dimock

Dale Eugene Dimock passed from this earth on March 18, 2024. He was born December 22, 1937 in Sayre, PA, to Lewis and Mary Ryder Dimock.
Dale joined the Navy after high school and served 20 years. His first training was as an aviation metalsmith, and he served at several naval air stations around the country as well as a few tours aboard ship, then later as a drill instructor, and as a recruiter. After retiring from the Navy, he returned to school and earned a teaching certificate, after which he taught metal trades at Grenada Vo-Tech High School for 17 years. After this second retirement, Dale enjoyed travel, fishing, woodworking, and especially golf. He was a permanent fixture at the Yalobusha Country Club, helping with groundskeeping and serving as a marshal, but he mostly just enjoyed playing golf and socializing with his buddies. In his younger days, he was quite talented on roller skates, where his creative stunts earned him the nickname “Crazy Legs”.
Dale enjoyed being around people, and he could often be found at ball games or other public gatherings with a ready smile and a funny story. Playing solitaire on his computer was also a favorite pastime. He was always eager to learn a new card or magic trick (which he would then teach to the grandkids) or build a new puzzle contraption for that same audience. Dale was a big kid at heart, always playful and eternally cheerful! He embodied a youthful spirit and was a true optimist, never burdened or stressed by worries of the future, and he lived every day being truly present. Dale loved his family and was a generous husband, father and grandfather. He will be sorely missed.
Dale was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Dimock and Arthur Dimock, as well as his first wife of 30 years, Lila Faye Faulkner Dimock, and one grandchild, Haley Terry Ferguson. He leaves behind his wife of the last 33 years, Bonnie Walker Dimock; two daughters, Sandra (Steve) McCluskey, Carolyn (George) Rutherford; two stepchildren, Sandy Terry and Randy (Dawn) Walker; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Ferguson, Amy (Jon) Bardwell, Chris (Kelsey) McCluskey, Thomas (Becky) Rutherford, Lily Rutherford, Layth (Deana) Terry, Candi (Patrick) Stone, and KayLee (Tyler) Gore; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dale was a member of Sylva Rena Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held at Seven Oaks Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 20, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Seven Oaks on Thursday at 11:00 am, with burial in Sylva Rena Cemetery with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to Sylva Rena Baptist Church, 17640 Highway 32, Water Valley, MS 38965.
