Edna Modenia “Dena” Gardiner Rounsaville, age 90, passed away on Thursday February 9, 2023 in Kennesaw Georgia. She was born January 2, 1933 to the late W.C Gardiner and Arlene Wolfe Gardiner and graduated from Coffeeville High School. Dena continued her education at the Memphis business college, from where she graduated. She married her high school sweetheart after his return from the Navy. Dena career spanned many years working for Jewel Tea company, and then for the president of Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. Afterwards, Dena went to work for Whitehaven Church of Christ, and later when that church relocated she worked as the secretary for Goodman Oaks Church of Christ. She lived most of her adult in Memphis, TN and Southaven MS. In just the last year she moved to be near her daughter and granddaughter.
In her early years, Dena enjoyed skiing but more than anything, loved spending time with her dear friends and family. She was a devoted wife, mother and a grandmother to Bella. Dena touched so many lives through her kindness and faith which was evident in they way she served her church. She taught Sunday school for many years and still managed to keep in touch with many of the children she taught.
Dena had developed many special friendships with people whom she loved spending time just sitting, talking and laughing. She will be missed but heaven gained an angel.
Visitation is planned for Saturday, February 18, 2023, in the Gardiner Room at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM. Services will immediately follow at 11:30 AM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Matthew Crow officiating. Burial will be in Ford’s Well Cemetery in Oakland.
Dena is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Hart; and one granddaughter, Bella Hart, both of Kennesaw, GA. whom she loved so much !
As well as her parents, Dena was preceded in death by her husband of Sixty-Seven years, Carl Rounsaville; one brother, Monroe Gardner; one sister, Corrie Jones; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
