With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Fay M. Ross, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. Born on June 11, 1928, in Mississippi, Fay peacefully passed away on April 30, 2024, in Water Valley, MS with loved ones by her side. In her younger years, she worked as a Linotype operator for the North Mississippi Herald, but later became a homemaker and was cherished by all who knew her.

Fay will be dearly missed by her surviving relatives, including her daughter Jill Sharp and son, Scott Ross, her granddaughters Harley Sharp and Katherine Ross Stringer, grandsons Stephen Ross, Carson Sharp and Collin Sharp. Fay's lively spirit and strong will were characteristic of her nature, endearing her to many.

Throughout her life, Fay was known for her feisty and fun-loving personality. After earning her high school diploma, she and her beloved Harry lived in Water Valley, Forest and Corinth before eventually residing in West Point MS where they lived until retirement. They moved back to their hometown of Water Valley where they traveled with friends. Fay had a passion for playing canasta, bridge, and was a founding member of her rook club for over 60 years. She was an avid reader, particularly enjoying western novels, and had a fondness for country music and fishing.

To honor Fay's life and memory, a Visitation will be held at 1:00pm followed by the funeral at 2:00pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home on May 11, 2024. The burial will take place later on the same day at Oak Hill Cemetery, Water Valley, MS 38965.

Fay M. Ross will forever remain in our hearts as a woman of strength, humor, and unwavering love for her family.

Fay is survived by, two children, Scott Ross (Donna) of West Point, Jill Sharp (Roger Tollison) of Water Valley; five grandchildren, Katherine Ross Stringer (Glen) of Columbia, MS, Stephen Ross of West Point, Harley Sharp, Carson Sharp (Erin), Collin Sharp all of Water Valley; and one great-grandchild, Ross Stringer.

Fay was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Dora Cox) Milstead; husband of sixty years, Harry Ross; one son, James Michael Ross; three brothers and two sisters.
