Sue Samuels Cobern

Geneva A. (Sue) Samuels Cobern, 76, of Water Valley, MS, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS.

Sue was born in Water Valley, MS to Kenneth M. (Snow) Samuels and Quay W. Samuels. Sue grew up in Water Valley, MS where she graduated from Water Valley High School in 1967.

In 1970, Sue married Troy Cobern of Water Valley, MS, and moved to Senatobia, MS in 1979 where she and Troy raised their family before returning to Water Valley in 2014.

Sue worked as an office administrator with much of her career working as the secretary for Magnolia Heights School in Senatobia, MS. She was a member of The First Christian Church in Water Valley, MS where she enjoyed volunteering and working with the Children’s Vacation Bible Schools. Sue kept busy by crafting and painting and enjoyed shopping and gift giving.

Her friends and family remember her for her outgoing personality, sense of humor, and willingness to help others whenever possible.

She is survived by her husband, Troy, her children, Correy Cobern and spouse, Renee, of Jonesboro, AR, and Whitney Cobern of Water Valley, a granddaughter, Dr. Jade Cobern and spouse Dr. Roberto Aru of Philadelphia, PA, and a sister, Pam Samuels Timmons of Water Valley.

She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth (Snow), her mother, Quay, and her brother, Mike Samuels.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS at 10:00 AM with Bro. Mike Fondren officiating. Visitation will begin an hour prior at 9am.
