George E. Laird

George E Laird, age 71, of Water Valley, MS passed from this life Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Baptist hospital in Memphis, TN. He was born July 10, 1951, in South Bend, IN to the late Oscar and Margaret (Eversol) Laird.

George honorably served our country in the United States Army where he received 3 medals including a purple heart. After returned, he worked hanging steel, and later worked in maintenance, a job which he would retire from. George had the gift of gab, and was well known for his ability to maintain a conversation. He enjoyed fishing when able and watching the show “COPS”. He will be missed by his many friends.

Visitation is planned for Thursday, June 1, 2023, in the Gardiner Room at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Dr. Randy Bain officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Liberty Cemetery including Military honors.

George is survived by his wife Diana; two sons, Chad Laird and Deric Laird; one granddaughter, Haylee Laird; two grandsons, Skylar Laird and Preston Laird; and three sisters, Rita Baker, Diana Brugh, and Donna Wrezien; one brother-in-law, Carlos Velez (Rose).

George was preceded in death by both of his parents.
