Henry Pierce

Henry L. Pierce, age 89, of Senatobia, MS passed peacefully on to his heavenly home on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born December 2, 1934 in Water Valley, MS to D.E. Pierce, Sr. and Ruth (Littleton) Pierce.

Henry graduated from Water Valley High School in 1954. He served in the Army National Guard from 1952 until honorably discharged in 1962. He began a lengthy railroad career with the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad in 1958 and retired as a Conductor in 1995.

He was a great man who loved God, his children, and grandchildren. Everyone who knew him loved him. You would often find Henry sitting in front of his TV watching Ole Miss Football or watching the Atlanta Braves play. Henry was also a huge John Wayne fan and would sit and watch movies with his grandsons. He loved his grand-dogs, Gus and Apollo, and would often sneak them snacks when he thought no one was looking.

Henry is survived by his children Melissa Paul (Bruce), Pamela Burton, Rhonda Lamp, his grandchildren Henry "Hank" Burton (Shelby), David Burton (Delia), Caleb Lamp (Shiloh), Ian Lamp (Sarah), eight great grandchildren, his brother Roy Pierce, and many nieces and nephews.

Henry was preceded in death by June Pierce (Wife), D.E. Pierce, Sr. (Father), Ruth Littleton Pierce (Mother), D.E. Pierce, Jr. (Brother), Patsy Pierce (Sister), and Albert Pierce (Brother).

Visitation is planned for Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 PM. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
