It is with a heavy heart but a spirit of gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Jimmy Wilson Simmons, age 81, who went to his forever home on November 4, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Oxford in Oxford, MS. Born on September 18, 1945, in Mississippi to Woodrow and Mary Ramay Simmons, Jimmy was truly a light in the lives of all who knew him.

Jimmy was a country boy at heart, raised on the family farm in Water Valley. He had a big loving heart and was known for his unwavering kindness, always ready to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Many remember him for the time he spent working with Dalton Hyde and for his many hobbies, which included hunting, fishing, and gardening.

In Jimmy's later years, after moving into the nursing home, he truly thrived, becoming a welcoming figure who brightened the day for those around him. He was cherished by his family and friends and will be deeply missed.

Jimmy is survived by his beloved cousin, Sarah Wood (Bobby), who shared countless memories with him. He is now reunited with his parents, Woodrow and Mary.

A graveside service to celebrate Jimmy's life will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Walker Cemetery, located on CR 431 in Water Valley, MS. We invite everyone who knew and loved Jimmy to join us as we honor his memory and share in the warmth and joy he brought to our lives.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Mary Ramay Simmons.
