Obituary

Joey Lynn Joyner, age 61 passed away peacefully at his home on April 18, 2026. He was born on November 19, 1964 in Water Valley.

Joey was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Among his many characteristics, Joey was known fondly for his ability to make others laugh. He could make the worst situation seem insignificant by cracking a joke, or making light of anything. Even at a young age, Joey was great at making people laugh. Joey was the youngest child of the late Chester and Ruthie Joyner.

He attended First Baptist Church of Water Valley.

Growing up, Joey took pride in being part of the Water Valley High School Band. He played the trumpet and had a great ear for music. He loved to share his love of music with his children by encouraging them to pursue singing, piano, guitar, and trumpet.

One of his favorite things he did was coach baseball and softball through the city league of Water Valley. He never missed an opportunity to show up and be a part of all of his children’s accomplishments.

After high school, Joey began a career in sales. He was a loyal salesman for many years where he made many friends in the sales industry. He prided himself in always making the most of his time and completing his routes quickly so he could enjoy his personal time.

Joey spent most of his time with his family when he wasn’t working. He was fondly known by everyone around him as Pop Pop. He enjoyed taking trips with his family and was always on an adventure, whether everyone else was up for it or not. He was always planning his next adventure even before he finished his current one. He lived life asking “What’s Next”.

Joey lived his life fully and without fear. He lived every moment to the fullest and never missed an opportunity to make others laugh. He made any room feel lighter and less serious by simply being present in the moment.

Joey leaves behind his loving wife, Amy, his children Chancie (Nick) Brower, Chestin (Robby) Leard, Logan (Kaytlyn) Joyner, Braylee Joyner, Aubrin Joyner, and Denver Joyner; his step children, Sarah Davidson, and Jamie (Dustin) Paige; his sister, Beverly (Jerry) Davis, and Mike ( Janice) Joyner. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Owen Brower, Oliver Brower, Laney Leard, Ava Brower, Joseph Paige, Millie Joyner, and Levi Paige.

Joey was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Ruthie Joyner, and a special aunt, Thela Martin.

Joey’s life will be fondly remembered on April 23, 2026, at 1:00 P.M at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. He will be celebrated by friends and family on April 23, 2026, for a visitation from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. He will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley.

Joey will fondly be remembered for his zest for life and his adventurous spirit. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him, but will always laugh and cherish all of the memories made with him.
