Joyce Claire Knudson died peacefully from cancer, Monday, February 20, 2023, at home with her mother and brother at her side. A private graveside service will be held at Bethlehem Cemetery. Seven Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born in Gulfport, MS, January 25, 1954, to Opal and the late James Barlow (Jimmy) Wright. She graduated from Grissom High School in Huntsville, AL, and where she lettered in gymnastics and from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA, where she majored in English.

Joy is best remembered for the many roles she danced with The Huntsville Ballet Company, especially the 2 years as soloist. Her hobbies were needle work and knitting. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Huntsville.

Her survivors include, her mother, Opal Williams Wright; her brother Drs. Ben (and Elizabeth) Wright; her nephews, Andy Cole Wright, James Robert Wright, and Benson G. Wright, III (Michaela); and one great nephew, Jacob Wright.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Benson and Hattie Barlow Wright and Arthur and Mabel Cole Williams.
