In Loving Memory of Katherine (Katie) Carol Watson

Katherine (Katie) Carol Watson, affectionately known to many as the "WIC Chick," passed away too soon, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith. Katherine was a longtime employee of the WIC food center, where her kindness and dedication touched countless lives and earned her the nickname that so many remember her by with a smile.

A true lover of all God's creatures, Katherine found joy in the simple wonders of the world-watching birds flutter in the trees, listening to the call of whippoorwills at dusk, and marveling at dolphins, her favorite animal. Her gentle spirit and warmth were evident in every life she touched.

Katherine found comfort and strength in her faith. A devoted Christian, she read her devotional daily and walked closely with the Lord throughout her life. She loved her family fiercely and was always happiest when surrounded by those she cherished. She enjoyed watching game shows, laughing along with the contestants, and never turned down a chance to rewatch her favorite movie, The Notebook.

She is survived by her two sons, Daniel Peterson and Mikey Watson, both of Water Valley; her cherished grandson, Ridge Watson of Water Valley; her loving sister, Lisa Thomas of Water Valley; her niece, Kayla (Kevin) West of Water Valley; her nephew, Justin Thomas of Water Valley; her great-niece, Amelia Thomas of Water Valley; and Trey Pullen of Water Valley who she loved like he was one of her own.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, Carol and John Watson of Water Valley, and her brother, Eddie Watson.

Katherine (Katie) Watson will be remembered for her warmth, her faith, and the love she gave so freely. Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace in knowing she is now with the Lord she so dearly loved. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.

There will be no public services, the family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
