Loretta Patterson Crawford embraced life with a fervor that was palpable to all who knew her. Born on January 25th, 1937, in McCaysville, GA, she lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to her family. On June 12th, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS, Loretta peacefully passed away, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and resilience that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Being raised by her mother, Irene Waters in the North Georgia Mountains, Loretta's humble beginnings shaped her into the remarkable woman she became. From her early days working as a waitress to her forty year career as a dedicated nurse, Loretta touched the lives of many with her caring nature and unwavering strength. Her commitment to her work was evident during her time at Yalobusha County Hospital, where she played an instrumental role in training and supporting countless healthcare professionals.
A member of The First Baptist Church of Water Valley, Loretta's faith and compassion were the cornerstones of her life. She adored her family, cherishing every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Loretta's culinary talents were renowned, with her Cream Cheese Pound Cakes and homemade preserves bringing joy to all who tasted them.
As we celebrate Loretta's remarkable life, we invite all who knew and loved her to join us in honoring her legacy. Funeral services will be held at Seven Oaks Funeral Home on June 22, 2024, at 12:00 pm, preceded by a visitation at 10:00 am. Following the services, Loretta will be laid to rest at the family plot in Pinecrest Cemetery, marking the final chapter in a life well-lived and a soul deeply loved.
Loretta's memory will forever be cherished by her surviving family members, including her daughter, Pam Dixe, sons Perry Crawford (Marilyn) and Brett Crawford (Kirstie). She is also remembered by her brother Herman (Ducie) Waters, Her grandchildren, Preston Duke (Jasmin), Karla Williams, Whitney Dixe, Jeremy Crawford and Elizabeth Crawford, Caleb Crawford (Shelby); Her Great Grandchildren, Courtney and John Luke Bardo, extended family, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by her husband Earl Max (Jack) Crawford, her daughter Diane Duke, her brothers Harold and Jimmy Hoyt Waters.
