Max Ray Smith, a devoted husband, and loving father, peacefully passed away on December 16, 2023, at The Magnolia in Oxford, MS at the age of 90. Born on April 30, 1933, in Enville, TN, Max lived a life filled with purpose, kindness, and dedication.
Max's journey began in Enville, TN where he developed a strong sense of family values and a diligent work ethic. As a young man, he pursued his education and proudly earned his High School Diploma. Following his education, Max answered the call of duty and served his country as a member of the Army National Guard, faithfully dedicating eight years to his service.
After his time in the National Guard, Max embarked on a successful career in the manufacturing and sales industry, specializing in building materials. For many years, he demonstrated unwavering commitment to his work, contributing his knowledge and expertise to his employer, Sequoia.
Outside of his career, Max cherished the time spent with his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife Margie Smith, and together they created a home filled with love and laughter. Max will be remembered for his warm smile, his gentle nature, and his ability to find joy in the simple pleasures of life.
Max is survived by his wife of fifty-one years Margie Smith; children Marsha Moore, Valerie Smith, Steve Smith; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Max was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Smith and Annie (Rickman) Smith; one sister, Glenda Robinson; three brothers, Ortol Smith, Bill Smith, RD Smith; and one daughter, Sandy Miller.
In reflecting on Max's life, we are reminded of the importance of family, hard work, and kindness. He leaves behind a legacy that serves as an inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Max Ray Smith's life will be celebrated and honored in a Visitation in the Gardiner Room at the Seven Oaks Funeral Home on December 19, 2023, starting at 10:00 am. This will be followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am at the same location. Friends and family are invited to come together to pay their respects and share the memories they hold dear.
