Phyllis truly loved Caring for others.
Phyllis Harding Norwood, age 78, passed away on September 9, 2026, at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, Alabama. She was born on January 7, 1948, to David A. Lonzo Harding and Marjorie Hallmark Harding.
Phyllis truly loved Caring for others. She lived a life of service, caring for her family and the children of many others. She began at Keith's Daycare and transitioned to home care for Drew, Desiree', and Drake Dickey, the children of Jim and Dreva Dickey of Water Valley. She remained their loving "extra mom". She later enjoyed many fulfilling years at Little Professionals Daycare working alongside one of her best friends Beverly Joiner Davis of Water Valley. She was a truly amazing mother and wife, dedicating her time and energy to her daughter Natalie Norwood Bauer and husband of 53 years, Charles R. "Bob" Norwood, until his death in 2021.
As a youth, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Water Valley, where she sang in the choir and was an active member of the youth group. As an adult, she attended Jumper's Chapel Congregational Methodist Church, where she also sang in the choir and was active in Sunday School. In retirement, she loved traveling with family and friends. Whether it was a trip out West, time at the beach or New York City, she loved the laughter and adventure. At home, her favorite activity was "porch sitting" with family and friends.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter Natalie Norwood Bauer (Jason) of Spanish Fort, Alabama; and two grandchildren, Anna Alexis (Lexi) and Aidon Jacob (Jake) Bauer.
She was a truly amazing mother and wife, dedicating her time and energy to her daughter Natalie Norwood Bauer.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles R. (Bob/Coot) Norwood; her son Charles Robert Norwood, Jr.; and her siblings "Sonny" Harding, Ronny Harding, and Mary Jane Harding McFerrin.
Visitation is planned for Monday, September 14, 2026, in the Gardiner Room of Seven Oaks Funeral Home from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The family will then proceed to Jumpers Chapel Congregational Methodist Church where a graveside service will be held, with Bro. Bobby Jones officiating.
