Robert Douglas Riley, born March 3, 1965, passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Oxford, MS, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. “Doug,” as some people know him, Robert to others was a wonderful, loving, family man. He was a proud graduate of Water Valley High School, Class of 1983, and he also attended Northwest Community College, where he earned his associate's degree. Doug very much enjoyed football, the Florida Gators being his main team. He loved traveling and was known to just up and leave on a trip lasting several hours without telling a soul. He enjoyed the open road, driving his jeep with the windows down, just soaking in the fresh air. Doug was also known as the King of Irish Goodbyes. He was most of all a family man who greatly loved spending time with his girls. He was dedicated to supporting them from taking Destiny to all her gymnastic meets growing up, to watching Haisley cheer.

His family was the center of his universe, and he relished every moment spent with them, whether it was sharing laughter over a meal or cheering from the sidelines at every event. Doug's warmth and kindness touched everyone he met, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him.

Beyond his family, Doug was a cherished friend to many. Doug's legacy is one of love, laughter, and unyielding support. He taught those around him the importance of cherishing life’s small moments, embracing spontaneity, and above all, loving fiercely. His memory will be carried on by his beloved family and friends, who will continue to honor his vibrant spirit by living life to the fullest, just as he did.

Robert is survived by his mother, Martha Riley; one daughter Destiny Griffin (Robert); and two grandchildren, Haisley & Ava Riley Griffin; his beloved dog Abby, and a host of extended family and friends including Hanna, Austin, and Hudson Potts.

Robert is preceded in death by his father, Robert Smith Riley and one brother Delynn Riley.
