Ruby Jean Barr

Ruby Jean Barr was born May 9, 1955 to the late Ruby Lee Caldwell and late Charles Hervey. Ruby Jean accepted Christ into her life at a very early age and became a member of Union Hill C.M.E. Church. She worked as a private caregiver for 50 plus years until her health started to fail her. She enjoyed family gatherings and watching her grandchildren grow. 

Ruby was married to Willie Lee Barr for 20 years. From this union three girls were born: Latesie, Latina, and Katrina. She was loved by many. Ruby leaves to cherish her many memories, two daughters, Latesie Hudson and Latina (John) Jones of Water Valley; one sister, Theresa Hervey; three brothers Charles Hervey, Willie Hervey, and Christopher Hervey; eight grandchildren, Kierra Hudson, Qua'Shonda Thomas, Kendranna Barr, Ja'Kori Thomas, Lakendra Bishop, Jayla Jones, William Barr, and Latreece Hudson; and one great grandchild, Kensly Holloway. She also leaves behind very special aunts, Annie White, Lourenia Willingham, and Gracie Mae Hervey; two uncles, Rural Caldwell and J.W Caldwell; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, Ruby Lee and Carles; her daughter, Katrina Barr Morgan; as well as two sisters and a brother.  

A public visitation is planned from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, in the Gardiner Room at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating Ruby's life will begin at 2:00 PM in the Henry Chapel at Seven Oaks with Pastor Yarnell Marks officiating. Burial will follow at Union Hill Cemetery, Water Valley, MS.
