Yvonne was a tenacious lady who devoted her life to her family, her faith, and the communities she loved.
Yvonne Easley Vance, 89, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2026, in Oxford, MS. A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM, also at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. A graveside will follow at Vance Cemetery. Bro. Samuel Vance will officiate. Seven Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Yvonne was a tenacious lady who devoted her life to her family, her faith, and the communities she loved. After several years working as a seamstress at Kellwood in Calhoun City, she began what would prove to be a distinguished career in banking. She accepted an entry-level position with Grenada Bank in Calhoun City and worked her way up to President of Sunburst Bank in Oxford. She was a proud graduate of the School of Banking of the South at LSU where, as a Rebel fan, she came back with tales of taunting Mike the tiger with her cohort. She eventually joined Bank of Mississippi at the behest of Mr. Aubry Patterson, and later retired as Regional Vice President of BancorpSouth. Throughout her career, she had the opportunity to serve alongside and lead others with wisdom, respect, and fervor.
A member of First Baptist Church of Water Valley, Yvonne previously served as church treasurer and taught Sunday School at times over the years. Her passion for service extended well beyond the church. She was actively involved in numerous civic and community organizations, including the Pilot Club of Water Valley, the Garden Club of Water Valley, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She also worked with the Oxford-Lafayette Economic Development Foundation and the Rotary Club. In recognition of her dedication to service, Yvonne was named a Paul Harris Fellow, an honor reflecting her commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
Yvonne had a love for art and antiques. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends and family over the years. Whether it was going out to eat, playing Rook or dominos, buying all the properties on the Monopoly board, or playing the meanest hand of poker, she gave it everything she had.
Her passion for service extended well beyond the church.
Yvonne is survived by her daughter, Leslie Frazier, of Oxford, MS; grandchildren, Samuel Vance (Martha), Jacob Vance, Michael Vance (Kaitlyn), E.J. Vance, Michelle Shepherd, Bailey Frazier, and Ella Frazier; great-grandchildren, Rachel Vance, Elias Vance, Lydia Vance, Naomi Vance, Brooks Vance, Rivers Vance, Banks Vance, Maggie Sue Shepherd, and John Deacon Shepherd; and her brother Larry Easley of Madison, MS. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Scott Vance; sons, Randy Scott Vance and Jerre Lynn Vance; parents, Grady Lee and Frances Vernon Chandler Easley; and brothers, Price Easley, Dale Easley, and Lee Easley.
